Let's start with two apps I use:

  • DoNotPay, a chatbot app that provides legal services, raised a $12 million Series A this week. "DoNotPay is highly scaleable because everyone on the team is focused on engineering the fully automated products," CEO Josh Browder told me. By the way, everyone on the team = eight employees (for now).
  • Jumboalsoannounced an $8 million Series A this week. This app helps users easily adjust privacy settings on popular services.

Physical automation: Geek+, a Beijing-based manufacturer of logistics robotics, said it raised over $200 million in Series C funding in early 2020. Geek+ reminds me of Kiva Systems and 6 River Systems, logistics botmakers acquired by Amazon and Shopify, respectively.

Software automation: UiPath, a robotic process automation firm, is in talks to raise money at a valuation of $10+ billion, Bloomberg reported last week.

And one more for the road: Palantir raised $500 million from a Japanese investor, per Bloomberg. It's likely the last private investment for the controversial data mining company before it goes public.
