Your chatbot is about to get carded. Estonia—the Baltic nation where a digital ID is all you need to apply for a marriage license and see a doctor—wants to be the first country to give AI agents their own IDs, its prime minister announced yesterday.

The thinking is that your AI assistant shouldn't get the keys to your entire digital life just to book a dentist appointment, so each bot gets "limited, controllable, and auditable" permissions—potentially capped to a spending limit (sorry, agents, no maxing out the company card).

Estonia's PM is no AI skeptic, either. Per Bloomberg, he recently vibe-coded a "PM Cockpit" on Claude—a dashboard tracking his government's priorities—and plans to fold AI agents into the country's e-residency program, so your bot could be a card-carrying Estonian before you are.
