Plus, IG accounts get hacked thanks to Meta’s AI bot.

Meta's AI support bot may have taken “the customer is always right” too literally. Over the weekend, hackers managed to sweet-talk it into hijacking an unknown number of Instagram accounts, including high-profile handles belonging to the Obama-era White House, Sephora, and the US Space Force’s chief master sergeant.

The scheme was shockingly straightforward: All it took was a VPN and a polite request to link an extra email address to the account in question—an ask that somehow tripped zero alarms for the support bot. Hackers then used that email to reset the password and waltz off with the stolen account. Meta says it’s patched the flaw, but it’s a cautionary tale that bots don’t always make the best online bouncers.
