Glass panels break in solar panel manufacturing processes due to panel warp and kink induced in the tempering process. Panel breakage results in significant production line downtime to clear and restart the process.

Solution:
A novel high resolution large field of view 3D sensor was developed to specifically measure the glass surface planarity using the SICK Ranger camera.
